Sacred Heart Homerooms participated in the annual "door decorating" contest on the last day of school before Christmas Recess. Mrs. Deborah Garcia's Sophomore homeroom was declared the winner of the contest by a panel of judges.
In what has quickly become a theme for the Lady Irish this season, a hard-fought first half was only a prelude to the Irish using their size and strength to impose their will on a smaller opponent after halftime. Yesterday, Thursday December 18, the Irish coasted to victory against conference opponent Vincent Ferrer High School, 50-35.
Rallying from down by as many as nine points, the Sacred Heart Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Salesian High School 74-64 at Sacred Heart Gym on Tuesday afternoon.
The Student Council at Sacred Heart is collecting toys for the Saint Joseph's Head Start Program. The drive runs until December 15. Students and community members may drop off their toys to Mrs. Marques in Room B001 or Ms. Tracey in Room A219.
The Sacred Heart Irish defeated Clark Academy, 71-68, at Sacred Heart Gym on Wednesday, December 2. The game featured several lead changes, with the Irish jumping out to an early first quarter lead. Clark, however, could not be counted out, as they continually answered Sacred Heart fast-break points with accurate shooting from 3-point range.
In what could very well be a preview of playoff basketball, the Sacred Heart Lady Irish (2-0, 1-0) shook off a slow start to defeat archrival Saint Barnabas on Tuesday, December 1, at Sacred Heart Gym, 46-39.
On Monday, November 30, Fr. Maurice Moreau, Pastor and Head of School, blessed the high school community's Advent wreath. With faculty, staff, and students gathered outside the main office, Fr. Moe began the high school's Advent observance.
