In advance of the 2018-2019 School Year, Sacred Heart High School announced the creation of three new student programs, a new sport for both male and female athletes and an international travel opportunity for underclassmen.
• Mock Trial: This fall, Sacred Heart High School will begin competing in the Mock Trial competition sponsored by the New York State Bar Association. This club will be co-moderated by Mr. William “Billy” Sacco and the Rev. Matthew Janeczko, OFM Cap.
• Track: As previously announced, Sacred Heart will begin an intra-mural track club this winter and begin competing in both boys and girls spring outdoor track this school year. Both Boys and Girls from Sacred Heart will compete in Fall Cross Country, Winter Indoor, and Spring Outdoor Track beginning in September 2019.
• SHOUT: SH (Sacred Heart) OUT (Outreach) will revitalize and grow the already robust culture of service at Sacred Heart. Beginning in September 2018, Ms. Anne Murphy, faculty moderator of SHOUT, will assist Sacred Heart students in partnering with local organizations serving Yonkers and the surrounding community.
• International Travel: Beginning this Easter Break, Sacred Heart will now sponsor a second international trip for students. In the past, a 12th Grade-only trip was sponsored by the Foreign Language Department. Previous trips have visited Italy and Spain. This year, an additional trip will be offered for students Grades 9-11 to Ireland.
• Culinary Club: Under the direction of Ms. Frances Acosta and Mr. Joseph Gilfoil, Sacred Heart will begin sponsoring a Culinary Club. Students will be invited to learn the basics of cooking. The year’s activities will culminate in the students providing the hors d'œuvres for Sacred Heart’s Annual Donor Thank You reception.
