The Guidance Department advises on numerous topics including transitional concerns, time management, study skills, college and career exploration.
Our Guidance Department provides advising and assistance with:
• Academic and career issues. |
• Course selection process. |
• Preparation for college entrance exams (PSAT/SAT/ACT/SAT Subject Tests). |
• Test taking strategies. |
• Management of the college application process. |
• Tracking school and New York State Regents graduation requirements. |
• Developing letters of recommendation for job, college, and scholarship applications. |
• Promoting academic achievement. |
• Coordinating parent-teacher conferences. |
Evening Workshops for Parents- Senior Parent Night, Financial Aid Workshops, Annual College Fair, (over 40 Colleges attend as well as Financial Aid Advisors) Junior Parent Night, Freshman Parent Orientation and ADAPP Presentation for parents.
Testing Accommodations: Students with a current 504/IEP Plans from their home school district are eligible for testing accommodations. The parents are responsible to provide the school with the current 504/IEP. Consult with your guidance counselor.
Referrals: Guidance personnel will consult with and refer student/parents to local health professionals at the request of the family or school.
Archdiocese Drug and Alcohol Prevention Program (ADAPP): Individual and small group sessions focused on the prevention of alcohol and drug use. Works in conjunction with parents and faculty to promote student success.
